Family-friendly Cranmore Mountain is a staple in North American skiing. Opened in the winter of 1937-38, the mountain is less than two miles away from Red Jacket Mountain View Resort & Water Park in North Conway, N.H. -- recently named the No. 2 Best Ski Town in North America in a USA Today readers' poll. Cranmore offers training for skiers as young as 3 years old and its instructors don't discriminate against us adults, with packages for new-to-the-sport folks ages 13 and older. The Discovery Zone is free with the purchase of any lift ticket. It's set up to be a self-guided progression area with signs and instructions worth exploring if you're new to skiing and snowboarding or just want to get your snow legs activated after hibernating for a year. Skiing and snowboarding aren't the only things to do on Cranmore, either. There are other activities like tubing and the Mountain Adventure Park to get your adrenaline pumping, and six dining options open daily like Red Sled Burritos and Zip's Pub & Grill. The mountain is open most days from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., but hours are subject to change.

The short driving distance means within 20 minutes of leaving Red Jacket Mountain View, you can be queuing up the mountain for your first run of the day. There are 311+ total skiable acres at Attitash, so you won't have to worry about getting bored with scenery as you traverse the trails (23 miles of them), which are rated 27% most difficult, 44% intermediate and 29% novice.
