The Cape is famous for world-class saltwater fishing and has plenty of opportunities for anglers of any skill level.
Saltwater game species that are routinely caught include bluefish, striped bass, flounder, bonito, tuna, and yes – even shark. Charter boat trips to fit every budget are widely available, all captained by experienced local guides who know how to put you where the fish are.
Here are some we recommend:
- Shark Shark Tuna (they even pick up right at our dock at Red Jacket Beach and steps away from Blue Water and Riviera at Smugglers Beach!)
- Bass River Fishing Charters
- Cape Cod Bay Charters
- Cape Cod Fishing Charters
- EmmaJack Charters
- Helen H. Fishing Charters
- Lady J Sportfishing
- Hyannis Whale Watcher
- Dolphin Whale Watch Fleet
Local tip: bluefish, which are so plentiful here that they can be difficult not to catch at certain times of the year, put off many people due to their strong taste. To make this tasty fish less fishy tasting, soak fillets in milk or gin for about 30 minutes.
And if saltwater fishing isn’t your game, Cape Cod has 365 lakes and ponds dotting the landscape (many of which are stocked), with bass, perch, pickerel, trout, and sunfish. A canoe or kayak rental can get you out on the water and off on your own adventure.
