To help you stay safe and avoid scenic-but-treacherous cycling roads, we’ve rounded up our favorite places to get out on two wheels while you’re visiting the Cape.
Biking is an exceptional way to see the Cape, from coastal shorelines to dense landscapes. If you're interested in exploring the peninsula and getting in some exercise at the same time, this is your best bet for a memorable adventure.
When it comes to biking, the best place to start is the Cape Cod Rail Trail, which stretches from South Yarmouth to Wellfleet thanks to a recently completed extension project, and begins just minutes from our resorts. The fully paved (and mostly flat) Rail Trail runs 25 miles in length, so it’s a great day trip for an experienced cyclist. It’s also great for families who want to see different parts of the Cape without having to pile into the car. Other fun areas include the Cape Cod Canal Bikeway (also paved) and the off-road trails at Hathaway's Pond Conservation Area.
Pit Stop: Make sure to pass through Brewster on your Rail Trail journey so that you can stop at Guapo’s Tortilla Shack for snacks and libations.

Resorts Where You Can Bike
All of our resorts are on bike-friendly roads, but Green Harbor is especially bike-friendly. The West Yarmouth resort offers complimentary rentals for guests and kids are encouraged to learn to ride their bikes while staying there -- we give out certificates of accomplishment for every new rider that conquers their bike-riding fears at Green Harbor!
The closest resort to the Cape Cod Rail Trail is Blue Rock Resort, which sits a half-mile (or 1 minute if you're on two wheels) from an entrance to the path on North Main Street between Whites Path and Laban Lane.
How to Plan for a Day on the Trails
Before you head out for a bike trip, make sure you have a map of the area, the phone number for the front desk at your resort, and plenty of water with you. If you have any questions about your bike or are interested in purchasing new helmets (everyone needs one!), our friends at Pedego Cape Cod -- steps from the South Yarmouth trailhead for the Cape Cod Rail Trail -- will be happy to help. Fun twist: A Pedego electric bike rental is a great way to explore more of the Cape Cod bike trails in less time!
