If your family loves the swashbuckling excitement of pirate adventures, Cape Cod has a treasure chest full of activities for you this summer!
Home to the world’s only authenticated pirate ship, South Yarmouth’s Whydah Pirate Museum is a treasure trove of pirate artifacts, and ongoing discovery.
How much do you know about Pirates? Throughout history they’ve been portrayed as daring, fierce, immoral, dangerous and heroic. One thing they were not is invincible, and one of our common Nor’Easters sunk the Whydah Gally off the coast of Wellfleet in 1717. Discovered in 1984 by Cape Cod native Barry Clifford, we now have access to the only recovered Pirate Treasure in the world. Now, at the Whydah Pirate Museum in South Yarmouth, you can explore the Real Pirates of the Whydah, see their buried treasure and the artifacts that have been recovered from the shipwreck. You can also learn all about the real people we call pirates, thanks to an array of pirate adventures on Cape Cod this summer! See more about these events below!
The Cape Cod Maritime Museum at Hyannis Harbor, located just a stone’s throw from Green Harbor Resort, will host two pirate themed events in late July. The Pirate’s Ball is an evening event on July 29th, and on July 30th, Pillage the Village – Family Pirate’s Day. See a local article about these fun events! Close to the resorts we have two pirate themed mini-golf courses, Skull Island and Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf which is hosting the 9th Annual Pirates Day on August 5th!
