It’s an exciting time in North Conway as spring is here in the Mt. Washington Valley and the opening of Story Land is right around the corner! It’s also the perfect time to plan a getaway with the kids and take advantage of some great packages at Red Jacket Mountain View and Fox Ridge Resorts (more on that later!).
We have put together a list for first-time visitors or returning guests featuring what’s new and what you may not know about Story Land:
1. A New Show Kicks Off the New Season
Inspired by “Mister Roger’s Neighborhood”, Story Land’s newest show invites the audience to be a part of the fun! Learn how to share, try new things and use your imagination during “Daniel Tiger’s Grr-ific Day!” The 20 minute show concludes with a meet and greet with Daniel and Katerina Kittycat for pictures and hugs.
2. Sensory Sensitive Weekends Make Their Debut
On June 23rd, the park will be having a grand opening of their new Calming Room, which is a sensory sensitive environment for those who need a break. Also new for 2018 is a designated quiet dining area next to Los Bravos burgers. Story Land is debuting these new areas during its first ever Sensory Sensitive Weekend on June 23rd and 24th and is creating a customized experience for guests who are on the autism spectrum. Park music will be turned down, ride music will be off/turned down, certain geysers/water features will be turned off and ride announcements will be turned down. During the special weekend, there will also be a designated exit by Bamboo Chutes from 3-5:15pm to offer families an easier way back to their cars.
3. You Can Bring Your Own Picnic
Although there are several great places to eat at Story Land, you also have the option of bringing your own food and drinks into the park! Those bringing a cooler to store their food and drinks can also take advantage of the park’s cooler storage area so that they don’t have to bring it with them everywhere they go. Park officials ask that guests do not bring alcohol with them as it is prohibited on Story Land grounds.
4. Tips for Taking a Mid-Day Break
There’s so much to see and do at Story Land but we know sometimes little ones may need a mid-day break from the all-day adventure. Story Land makes that easy – on your way out make sure to get a hand stamp at the exit gate and you’ll be welcome to re-enter anytime during the day. The perfect plan if you want to fit in nap time, a swim or just some relaxing downtime at your hotel. Your whole family will be ready to return refreshed for more Story Land fun!
5. There are Free Self-Service Kennels at the Park
If you’re traveling with your beloved four-legged friend, you are welcome to bring them along for the day to stay in a kennel of their own. There are 26 self-service pet kennels at Story Land that are free of charge on a first come, first served basis. They are 16 square feet with roofs and individual padlocks to ensure the safety of your pet. To check-in your pet, visit Yum Yum Junction (simply ring the doorbell) where you will be given your code and Kennel number. Owners are responsible for the well-being of their pets. And don’t forget, there are also 4 townhomes and 12 rooms at Red Jacket Mountain View Resort that are pet-friendly (advance hotel reservations required).
6. Best Dates to Visit Story Land
Experience one of the best attractions in New Hampshire during the first weeks of its opening! Take advantage of the spring weekends at Story Land and enjoy the park’s games, rides, shows and activities when it is less crowded. From May 26th until June 15th, the park will be operating only on weekends, which is the perfect time to hop on board Cinderella’s Pumpkin Coach, tour the land of windmills and canals from your very own flying shoe and go through the looking glass in Alice’s tea cup!
7. Stay Nearby at Red Jacket Mountain View Resort or Fox Ridge Resort
Plan ahead for your trip to Story Land and make it an unforgettable family vacation at Red Jacket Mountain View Resort or Fox Ridge Resort!
