Planning to spend April school vacation week at Red Jacket Beach Resort? Between the activities planned at the resort and a few fun destinations around town, the kids will be busy and having fun all week.
1. Amazing Game Bus
Kids can pull up a seat and play video games on high-definition TVs with lights and sounds around them, all from a super-cool mobile trailer from Amazin’ Gamin’ that will be parked at the resort. Up to 28 people can play at once and there are multiple games and gaming consoles. There is no charge for this family activity for resort guests.
Spend some time meeting and touching multiple live and exotic animals from Amazing Animal Ambassadors! With a unique variety of animals including large reptiles, parrots and insects from around the world, the peek-a-zoo is an experience unlike any other. Learn about these fascinating creatures from an experienced presenter and get up close and personal with the animals. There is no charge for this family activity for resort guests.
3. April Vacation Kids Club
Kids Club registration begins at 9:30am (Monday-Saturday) and the fun starts with games like kickball and capture the flag on the south lawn, indoor and outdoor pool games and arts and crafts. The Kids Club is held daily and recommended for children ages 5-12, but family members are welcome to join us in any and all activities! All participants also receive a complimentary Kids Club t-shirt. Additional special events include teen time, kite-making and kite-flying. There is no charge for the Kids Club or family activities for resort guests.
4. Ryan Family Amusements
Go bowling, play arcade games and snack on pizza and wings, all within minutes of the resort. Ryan Family Amusements offers candlepin and ten pin bowling with electronic scoring, as well as gutter bumpers and bowling ramps to help the kids bowl. Friday and Saturday nights feature Mystic Bowl, with a light and sound show as you bowl on the lanes. Heading into Hyannis, there’s another location that features bowling and an arcade, right on Main Street! Bowling for up to an hour with 2-6 people is $30 per lane plus shoe rental.
5. Cape Cod Museum of Natural History
Take a step outside and explore the beauty of Cape Cod’s natural environment at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. Located in Brewster, the museum features a nature education center that engages children and adults in high quality programs, films, field trips and interactive exhibits. Go for a walk on the 1.3 mile John Wing Trail which passes through the coastal pitch pine woodlands, across a salt marsh and to the barrier beach and tidal pools of Cape Cod Bay. Or you can opt for the shorter 1 mile Lee Baldwin Trail, which goes through the Stony Brook Valley. Admission is $15 for ages 13 to 64, $10 for seniors 65+, $6 for children ages 3 to 12, kids 2 and under are free.
6. Cape Cod Duckmobile
Take a tour on the “duckmobile”, an authentic military amphibious vehicle, which rides through downtown Hyannis before entering the waters of Hyannis Harbor. You’ll see a number of popular sites along the way, including the JFK memorial and a tour guide will tell you about the early settlers of Cape Cod and where they worked and played. Trips last approximately 45 minutes and depart from Main Street Hyannis, directly in front of Ryan Family Amusements. Admission is $19 for adults, $15 for kids, seniors and students and $5 for kids 5 and under.
7. Whydah Pirate Museum
Go back in time to 1717 and see what life was like for those on board the Whydah as you venture through the Whydah Pirate Museum, the only museum in the world that features real pirate treasure! Touch, see and interact with a number of exhibits and artifacts that were discovered off the coast of Wellfleet in 1984. Also learn how the artifacts were collected and preserved after being under water for 300 years. Located off of Route 28 in West Yarmouth, behind Captain Parker’s Restaurant. Admission is $18.95 for adults, $16.95 for seniors, $14.95 for children and kids 4 and under are free.
